Predicting the new world of work – where jobs will be in 20 - TopicsExpress

Predicting the new world of work – where jobs will be in 20 years’ time – is an imprecise science as economic and political developments, technology and climate change are unpredictable variables. UNI Global Unions research about underlying trends has though given its Professionals & Managers’ (P&M) Group good insights, e.g. in South Asia a major trend will be for more high-skilled workers doing knowledge-intensive jobs in tradeable industries like biotech, finance and research and development. It will be coupled with increasingly short-term, project based, contractual work. This precarity increases vulnerability of income, equality and job security, especially among young and women P&M workers. In partnership with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Bangladesh and UNI Bangladesh Liaison Council, UNI Asia Pacific Region P&M has utilised UNI’s Breaking Through strategy to run an innovative and inclusive multi-stakeholder training event to increase awareness of ILO labour standards to instil confidence among P&Ms and galvanise collective actions to secure decent work rights for all #BuildingPowerAtWork #StrongInclusiveUnions #NewWorldOfWork
