Both iron and folic acid play important roles in a child’s growth and development, especially early nervous system development. Iron-rich foods that are beneficial for pregnant women include- lean red meat, fish, chicken, legumes and green leafy vegetables. Folate is the B vitamin vital to the baby’s nerve development. Green leafy vegetables are a good source.
