Premed? Time to sign up for a life changing experience. Lets go! Is it finally time your pursue clinical experience and shadowing opportunities? If so, then you should look into PMT! PMT is the Pre-Professional Medical Training program, a division of Students for Science in partnership with the Association for Pre-Health Professionals, and the non-profit community clinic First Person Care Clinic. The objective of this program is to provide pre-medical students an intimate experience in the practice of medicine, particularly at the non-profit level. Students will learn the essence of HIPAA regulations, medical ethics, and healthcare administration first hand, as well as learn how to check-in patients, conduct vital signs, receive certification in First Aid, CPR & AED for Healthcare Professionals and coordinate outreach events. This program consists of 30 hours of intense training, with a minimum of 30 hours of hands on practice at the clinic spread over a period of twelve weeks on Saturdays from September 14th to November 23rd, and a graduation ceremony scheduled for December 14th. Upon completion of this program, students will be able to assist in all basic operations of the clinic and those that excel in the training as well as demonstrate a genuine interest in the nonprofit sector will be interviewed for an internship at First Person Care Clinic spanning the Spring semester. These internships will provide an intimate experience in the operations of the clinic, from working administration, to shadowing the physicians.
