Prepare for 2015! Cheryl Boswell Gregorie posted the 2014 updated version of the 2009 – 2019 Mt. Pleasant Comprehensive Plan a few days ago. It’s important that all of us read the entire plan. It’s best that you print it out, study and highlight it. This is the very thing that we are fighting – “Sustainable Development”. Get to know the buzzwords. It is “their” ideology that is being forced upon the citizens. You will notice that “stakeholders” are mentioned throughout the Comprehensive Plan. Exactly who are these stakeholders that are making decisions for the people of Mt. Pleasant? Is Bill Eubanks one of them? Those who plan on running for Town Council in 2015 MUST do their homework and understand why the residents of Mt. Pleasant are losing their property rights. We are going to need some strong well-informed leaders that will fight for the Townspeople. But most importantly the Townspeople must do everything in their power to support the candidates during the campaign and after they are elected. By you attending the May 29, 2014 public review meetings, feedback, and discussion was nothing but “smoke and mirrors”. Town Council wanted you to think that your opinions matter when the decisions had already been made!! It’s the “new norm”. This is how they pushed through the new Town Hall. Read the “Planning Process” in the 2009 – 2019 Comprehensive Plan below. Do you agree that the process was transparent? Planning Process The Comprehensive Plan Update has been developed through an open and interactive dialogue with various Town of Mount Pleasant stakeholders. The 2014 Comprehensive Plan update was officially kicked off at the September 5, 2013 Department of Planning and Development Meet and Greet. Copies of the 2009 – 2019 Plan and the Future Land Use map were provided for comment and feedback. Following the Meet and Greet, meetings were held with various stakeholders to discuss changes in the community since the adoption of the 2009 – 2019 Plan, and to identify issues that needed to be addressed. The feedback received from the Meet and Greet and stakeholder meetings was then provided to Planning Commission for their review. Planning Commission held eight working meetings to go through each element and develop recommended revisions. The Planning Commission provided the most detailed level of oversight and feedback into the Comprehensive Plan Update process. These recommendations were provided to the public at two concurrent Open Houses on May 29, 2014, for public review, feedback, and discussion. tompsc/DocumentCenter/View/10251
