Prepare for rant: Last nights network news lead story was about the NFL player Rice and the elevator video of him knocking his wife out. The SECOND story was about the NFL itself and how it lead to the whole thing. Well guess what? Every damn day in this country some woman gets knocked out by a man who is not in the NFL, and it is not the lead story even on her local news channel. Do we only care if we can attach a bit of celebrity to it? And why is the NFL to blame anyway? If a Weyerhaeuser employee beat the hell out of his wife last night would we be down there demanding they do something about it? The men who do this are, quite frankly, pieces of shit. It doesnt matter if they are celebrities, play football or if their only claim to fame is an ingrown toenail. If it is going to be a lead national news story, do it every time a woman is beaten. Or humiliated. Or yelled at and controlled. If you care about abuse, care about all abuse. Rant over. For now.
