Prepare yourselves to be caught off guard. Since 2000, there has not been a single record that has moved me more than this album, in a million different ways. Out of all of the records that I have gotten into over the last 14 years, this album is still the one. Ironically, rap music has nothing to do with my music career, yet this is still the record that has done the most for me. As a child in third grade, who was not supposed to even have this record, since the first time I hit play, I was hooked. When I listen to this album, I start at the beginning and listen all the way through the end without touching a single button. Still to this day. I remember exactly what it felt like hearing these songs as a kid, it would make me excited, happy, angry, mad and motivated all at the same damn time. I wouldnt even say that I grew up poor, but spending the first 10 years of my life living in a section 8 neighborhood, the people around me, who had it way worse, who experienced probably all of this first hand, allowed me to really grasp what he was writing about on a whole separate level. The writing is incredible, I cant even begin to tally up the great pieces, but even as a kid, I knew it was something amazing, just didnt know why.
