This is the time when recruitment process may start in some sectors. Most important part of almost all recruitment is Interview, a face-to-face interaction wherein views are exchanged. Following tips may be useful for those who are going to appear in the interviews. Research The preparation for an interview must begin well before the interview. A good research about the organization in which youre going to be interviewed is very useful. The answers to the questions like, what do you know about us? Or, what do you know about us, which is not known to many, are very likely to be asked in the interview. When youre well informed, it may send positive signals to the interviewer. This means that youre really interested to work in the organization and youre a good researcher. Understand the job You must understand the job for which youre going to be interviewed. You must know the job in terms of its roles and responsibilities. You must know the scope of the job position. You must know what actually the job holder has to do. Its very likely that the interviewers may ask you for your suggestions to excel in your job. Questions may be asked like, what steps would you take if youre employed? You can give impressive answers if youve already known the job. Taking some tips from anyone whos already doing the same job may help. Revise Its very likely that if the interviewers want to test your knowledge, theyll ask you questions from your subject. So, revise your field of study before going for the interview. Remember, you need not to study thoroughly because only the concepts would be asked. Therefore, a surface study will be helpful. Moreover, if youve undergone a Summer Training project or a Research on any particular topic, you may be asked questions regarding such projects too. In this case, it may be worth mentioning that questions may be asked like, what did you suggest in your project? What conclusion did you draw out of your research? Craft your Resume carefully; be honest The interviewers are smart enough to catch you if you exaggerate a certain thing. So, always be honest and do not exaggerate anything. Always be truthful while crafting your Resume. For example, mentioning something as your hobby or strength falsely may land you in trouble; you may be asked questions on the same. If you fail miserably, that would describe your falsity. Therefore, always speak the truth. This way, you will be able to express your strengths, answer well and impress the interviewers. Study General Knowledge Read the stuff on the general knowledge of the particular sector to which the organization belongs. For example, if youre going to appear in an interview at a bank, you should be aware of the Banking terminology and current Banking Sector. Questions may be asked on the same. Moreover, in many interviews, and candidates knowledge of his or her own state is also tested. So, study about the demographic, political and geographic state of your place. Remember, an aware person means a useful employee. Prepare an Introductory Draft of yourself One question is asked in almost all the interviews: Introduce yourself, or, please tell us about yourself. Believe me, this is where you can win half of the game. If this question is answered properly and impressively, the coming answers from you will be heard with attention and concentration. So, keep your words ready. Theres is a formal format in which you can introduce yourself. You must read about the formal approach of introducing oneself and then prepare an introduction accordingly. Practice, practice and practice Practice makes a man perfect. You must carve out your answers and words in advance. An eye-contact should be maintained. You should sit relaxed and speak at a decent speed. Practice all these things. You should practice your answers for the most likely questions. Doing such a practice and gaining knowledge about the subject and the industry will surely boost your confidence and you may speak well. Dress up Formally Always wear a formal dress, most preferably a suit with a tie. Please avoid casuals like Jeans. Wear a formal, well polished shoe. Girls should note that they too should wear a simple and decent dress and avoid fast colors like red or yellow. Moreover, girls should avoid a lot of make-up. Boys should go with a decent hair-cut and a properly managed face. Some miscellaneous tips If you dont know the answer to a certain question, express your inability to answer. However, sentences like this one can be used: Sorry Sir/Madam, I dont remember the answer right now. Greet the interviewers with a smile and wait for their offer to sit in the chair. Leave the room at the end with a greeting and a Thank you. Remember, do not shake hands unless the interviewer offers a handshake. All the best.
