Pres. #Obamas response to #ISIS threat, too little and late (if not too late) US leadership and/or intervention in Syria and Iraq, may have prevented the rise of the most successful Islamist terrorist movement in modern history. Since the beginning of his first term in office, the president showed very little interest in what was happening to Iraq, how to protect and progress the achievements of the Bush administration in making the ethically divided Iraqis unite and form a government that pushed the Islamist terrorists outside the border, to make it look good for his reelection campaign, he didnt even try to negotiate keeping a small number of residual force there and his lack of interest convicted Al-Maliki that he was being abandoned by Americans and sided with Shiite Islamist regime in Iran that promoted sectarianism in Iraq that reignited the sectarian civil war. In Syria, the west started to pay attention to the situation when the anti-regime uprising had already evolved into a full blown bloody civil war that became a perfect recruitment and training ground for the Jihadi terrorists from around the world that later joined the Sunni Islamist.terrorists and former Saddam era Bathist Republican Guards of Iraq and created ISIS. Still, when ISIS began slaughtering the Shiite, Christian, Yazidi and Kurdish civilians in Iraq, an initial response from a superpower, even in form of drone strikes could have kept ISIS isolated in a much smaller territory, instead of allowing it to capture entire major cities, banks, military bases, tanks, dams, oil fields and refineries, ... that is now beyond control. Timely responde and leadership superpower with a well informed and well determined leader can make a huge difference. Unfortunately, with president Obama and his political allies, everything is about politics, not doing the right thing. Its not only a matter of humanitarian urgency, the successes of an Al-Qaeda offshoot Islamist terrorist group will inevitably threaten the interests of the United States.
