Prescribed burns are planned in recreation parks to the south and north-east of Adelaide today – please spread the word to anyone you know who is likely to notice the smoke. The first is at the Para Wirra Recreation Park, with smoke expected to be visible in the area for a few days and to impact residential properties along Bassnet and Humbug Scrub roads. The prescribed burn - which will affect about 40ha of land in the south-eastern area of the reserve adjacent to the southern side of Humbug Scrub Road, Humbug Scrub, about 8km east of One Tree Hill - is expected to start at 10am and ignition should be completed by 8pm. The second is a prescribed burn at O’Halloran Hill, which will affect about 13ha of land in the central northern area of the reserve adjacent to the eastern side of Morphett Road, O’Halloran Hill. It will start at 11am and should be completed around 8pm. The Southern Expressway is expected to be affected by smoke and speed limits are likely to be reduced along affected stretches of road. Smoke is also likely to affect the suburbs of Darlington, Seacombe Heights, and Seaview Downs.
