Presentation Night ! Last Saturday evening, over 130 guest’s packed into the Porstsea Hotel to celebrate the 2013 Rye Football Club Season. Adam Kirkwood won his 3rd Clarrie Jennings Medal as Rye’s Senior Best and Fairest winner, one vote ahead of last year’s winner Darren Booth, with League MVP and Team of Year Captain Rhett Sutton 3rd, Coach Ben Holmes was 4th.Daniel Schwind won the Reserves with, Toby Woodford 2nd and big Michael Pudney 3rd. 3 new Life Members were inducted as Life Members of the Rye Football Club. Matt Noldt, Kyle Jennings and Matt O’Rourke. A fantastic achievement from all 3. Kyle Jennings’s and Matt O’Rourke making it 3rd generation Life Members of the Rye Football and Netball Club, within their respective families. Kyle joining Grandfather Clarrie Jennings, and mum and dad, Dan and Wendy. While Matt, joins the Life Members Club with Dad and current President Mick O’Rourke and Grandmother Bab’s. Matt Noldt (268 Club Games) being equal 2nd with Scott Beel on most senior games played at the club on 241, the great Nick Appleford # 1 on 308. All three started back in the Rye Juniors back in the early 1990’s. Also 2 outstanding achievments and dedication plagues were awarded to two club legends, in Scott Beel and Bruce Millar, for outstanding services to the Football and Netball Club over many years. The home change rooms, will now be called the “Scott Beel Change Rooms”. While the Trainers area inside the rooms, will now be known as the “Bruce Millar Trainers Room”. A fantastic achievement from both men. Scott with 29 years of service to the club including 308 club games and coach of the 2007 Reserves Premiership, and 17 years on the committee 10 as Vice President. While Bruce Millar has been a trainer at the club for 17 years, 12 of those as head trainer and also 8 years on the committee. Two outstanding servants of the Rye Football and Netball Club, congratulations guys.
