Presentation of financial aid, sewing machines and milk cows worth over Rs. 10 Million under Divineguma Programme to the self employed beneficiaries engaged in aquatic farming, dairies and apparel industries in Gampaha district took place on 19 September, 2014 at Ran Aruna Head Office at Gampaha, under patronage of Minister of Economic Development, Basil Rajapaksa. Financial aids were awarded to the aquatic farmers for projects such as commencement of new aquatic projects, improvements to existing fish farms, sea-bass fish breeding and breeding fish for food. Financial aid for over 6.7 million was awarded to around 236 farmers engaged in fish breeding. It is planned to commence 1000 new aquatic projects island wide under Phase 6 of the Divi Neguma Programme , out of which 165 projects will be implemented in Gampaha District. 80 sewing machines and milk cows were also distributed among self-employed beneficiaries. Total value of financial aid and other equipments presented today to the self -employed beneficiaries in Gampaha district exceeds Rs. 10 Million, benefiting 311 beneficiaries. Mrs. Pushpa Rajapaksa, Attorney at Law and Chairperson of the Liya Abhiman Organization, Deputy Minister Pandu Bandaranayaka, Member of Parliament J.R.P Sooriyapperuma, Western Provincial Council Chairman Sunil Wijerathna, Provincial Council Member Upul Mahendra Rajapaksa, Gampaha Mayor Eranga Senanayaka also presented at this occasion.
