Presenting the ....lost cast of the unseen first pilot of Gilligans Island....At first, there was a Ginger...but a different Ginger...played by actress Kit Smythe....who was BTW...also a red head...Ginger was a secretary and known to be very level headed and serious...she also made it a point to say that she was a graduate of secretarial school....Unlike...Bunny...played by actress Nancy Mc Carthy..., who was also a secretary...but played the Dumb Blonde role....The Professor...was still a teacher..but a Junior High Science Teacher...played by popular and up coming ladies man ...John Gabriel....he was supposed to be the romantic leading man....Whats this...did iconic glamazon...Jayne Mansfield...audition for the Ginger role on Gilligans Island...???? an actual pic...from a screen test..included....The future of the three actors was checkered at best....Smythe acted into the mid 1970s..and retired to raise a family...She currently performs on stage in the Palm Springs Follies....Mc Carthy..acted into the early 1970s...and retired due to a debilitating back injury...she went into the advertising business....BTW...her other major role of her career...was to play another forgotten character of a popular TV Series...the longtime girlfriend Laurie Burns...of the first oldest son on My Three Sons...Mike Douglas....played by Tim Considine....Gabriel found success...at a regular on the longtime ABC Soap Ryans Hope as Dr. Seneca...He also played Mary Tyler Moores occasional boyfriend on her series...All three characters were remembered with sympathy by the ones who stayed...bob denver, alan hale, jim bacchus..and natalie schaffer....who credited them for having done their part and ....sold the show ...to the network...CBS would have aired the show without tina louise, russel johnson and dawn wells anyway.. They did, however, make the actual series...albeit by accident....their covered heads were briefly seen on the SS Minnow Deck..during the pilot that was used...in the first scene when the Minnow was shipwrecked.....who knows what the show would have been???
