President Barack Obama Senator Lindsey Graham Senator Tim Scott Repetitive Mark Sanford Dear U.S. Representatives, I urge the Republican Party not to hold the government budget hostage in lieu of ending the Affordable Care Act. We have recently had a national discussion over Russian President Putin’s ridicule of American Exceptionalism. We have never seen, in the history of the United States, the debt ceiling, or the threat of not raising the debt, being used to extort a president or a governing party and trying to force issues that have nothing to do with the budget and have nothing to do with the debt. I am beginning to believe Putin was somewhat correct in his definition of American exceptionalism. Is this the American legacy you wish to leave your grandchildren, especially the ones who might be victims of hunger and medical illnesses? Those who choose to vote for the ending of the ACA are members who want a primary opponent in the next election. I don’t think anybody wants to do that too badly. If America wants to send a message to its opponents, I suggest we drop a bomb (slang) on Jim DeMint and the Heritage Foundation who is the prokaryote on America. The effort to a “small faction” within the Republican Party remains a “small” representative who suffers from delusions of grandeur. The only outcome to the Republican Party, should they succeed with defunding Obamacare is a loss in the House come 2014. American citizens who participate in the ACA are tired of the rhetoric from the House. Over forty times the Republican Party has attempted to defund the ACA. At whose costs? The American People. I wonder how much money has been spent on these fights for superiority, in lieu of the lives of thousands of Americans. Where is that exceptionalism? Over 43 million people are currently enrolled in Medicare/Medicaid. Should the government shut down, where are these victims of social inequality going to live? Where are they going to receive food? Where are they going to obtain critical life-saving medications? Where are they going to receive quality healthcare? Where are you going to bury them and how much money do you have in your back pockets to pay for those burials? Who among you are going to speak with family members and explain why your desire to “be right” was more important that their “right to be”? The total amount of money wasted to fight the defunding of the ACA would most likely be enough to have paid for the ACA over the past few years. Yet, you, and your dedication to the Heritage Foundation may be equipotent, but your reasoning is quite impotent. This commitment of loyalty make ones consider your loyalty of America. I question your commitment to self over the commitment to others, which, in my understanding, is why Putin challenged American exceptionalism. This fight you are engaging is not an American debate. It is a caveman’s struggle over rank. Do you not believe times have changed enough for man to be viewed as leaders among man, or does being the aggressor entertain you the most? I am a survivor victim receiving Medicare. I live monthly from benefit payment to benefit payment. I pay for my Medicare from my benefits. I purchase my life-saving medicines from my benefits. I depend on my benefits to assist me with my mortgage, utilities and food. Should you decide to stop my Medicare benefits, without a doubt I will be homeless, hungry and without my medications. Within 2-3 weeks I will be dead secondary to heart failure or a stroke. I have written a will stating, “should my death be the cause of the childish behaviors of those voters against the ACA, then please use my life insurance to suit the American government and every representative who voted against it.” We may not win, we might, but the world will then know, that I am one of thousands who died from your infantile behaviors. Respectfully, Robin M. Scott, RN Retired RobinScottRN@hotmail
