President In Germany: Bilateral Talks ADD THIS SCRIPT TO THE ITEM OF ANGELA MERKEL. : President U Thein Sein received a red carpet welcome by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, at the Federal Chancellery in Berlin Tuesday. The two leaders held a bilateral talk, focusing mainly on Myanmar’s ongoing transition. The two sides discussed increased cooperation in the upcoming elections, as well as agriculture, boosting investments on energy, industry, and education. President U Thein Sein sought assistance from Germany in helping Myanmar to create job opportunities, as well as develop vocational training and small and medium enterprises. The president also met with President of Bundestag, national parliament of Germany, NorBert Lammert. And also meet with non-political Think Tank, Korber foundation chairman, Mr, Christian Wriedt at the head officie of the korber foundation.Union Minister, Ministry Of Information, Uye’ Htut: We met three groups of people today; the chancellor, parliament speaker and German foundations who are working in Myanmar. President explained them the reforms and challenges face by Myanmar and how German authorities and civil societies can cooperate to overcome these challenges. Poverty reduction is a priority area in economic reform. We need production-oriented investments rather than those exploit natural resources. Wed like to prioritize job-intensive businesses and SMEs. Though agreements havent signed yet, we hope this relationship will be strengthen and hope to start German cooperation soon.
