President Koroma Bids Farewell to Brigadier McMahon By State House Communications Unit As President Ernest Bai Koroma’s social mobilization drive continues to show dividends in the fight against Ebola, the outgoing Deputy Head of the British Joint Inter Agency Task Force in the country Brigadier Steve McMahon during a courtesy call applauded the President’s leadership in the fight against the virus. “Your leadership has been absolutely superb throughout this whole Emergency,” he said. President Koroma appreciated the efforts of Brigadier Steve McMahon and the support given to the Department for International Development (DFID) and the government of Sierra Leone. He also noted that support from the British came in at a time when the country was trying to settle and establish the structures and treatment centers across the country. The president underlined the significance of sustaining good results as the country strives towards registering zero new infections. President Koroma also urged the New Deputy Head of the British Joint Inter Agency Task Force Brigadier Andrew Hughes to continue the good work started by his predecessor. He further promised to visit the United Kingdom (UK) to register his personal appreciation for the timely support provided. Bidding farewell, Brigadier Steve McMahon stated that because of the urgency of the outbreak they decided to come in uniform to support DFID in complementing the efforts of government in curbing the outbreak. He lauded the role played by the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) in the fight against Ebola. Brigadier Andrew Hughes thanked President Koroma and hoped to do his best in helping to contain the virus. Brigadier McMahon is expected to take leave by Wednesday 28th January, 2015.
