President Morsys Speech In English: To the kind generous people of Egypt, this opportunity which presented itself has allowed me the chance to put you in the picture of what has transpired since the 30th June 2013 till now. What has happened is a military coup in all its facets and descriptions and in order to introduce stability to the nation and reconciliation among all its sons and daughters, it is incumbent upon the kind people of Egypt to stand and declare that this coup is a crime and an act of treason. A crime because of the laws it broke in organising and moving the military, and a treason to God and the Prophet (PBUH) in breaching the oath that the minister of defence took. He has enacted treachery to the constitution and the people of Egypt and the high commander of the Egyptian Military and to the military itself. He has forced the military’s introduction in the political sphere and its quarry. These breaches have created gaps amongst its people, even in the same families. Egypt will not restore its health till the removal of coup and all its affects in all the various fields, and the prosecution of those who are responsible for the spilling of valuable Egyptian blood across all corners of the Nation. This spilling of blood cannot be excused or pardoned by individuals in positions of responsibility. There can be no relief to the thousands of families who have experienced loss or injury to their men, women and youth without fair application of justice that appeases God even before the suffering families. To the kind Egyptian people since 2nd July 2013 I have been forcibly kidnapped against my will in the Quarters Of The Presidential Guards up to 5th July 2013, at which point I was transferred again against my will and my assistants to one of the naval bases for four months. Within this period I did not see anyone for the exception of Lady Ashton, the African Delegation and four investigators (who I refused to answer, not recognising any of the procedures that were taken against me due to their breach of constitution that I swore to uphold, and in which I have no capacity to break). My first meeting excluding the above was on the 4th November 2013 within the police academy. I would like to emphasise I did not meet any of the leading figures within the military or representatives of the media. And all that was associated to me in this regard has no grounds of truth. I would like to use this opportunity to salute sincerely the sons and daughters of Egypt that stood up to the Coup from the first day and who continue to do so now daily across all corners of the nation, in a stand that has no comparison, witnessed by the world despite some who do not recognise such revolt, as in one who denies the Sun in midday. I would like to comfort those resilient heroes on their positions, and that I draw from their strength extra strength, and from their determination renewed determination that helps me to stand resilient to the promises I pledged to them prior to my election in order to hold the interests of the nation above all else. I say to the daughters and sons of the people of Egypt who enquire about my own rights, that they are inconsequential compared to the rights of Egypt. Stand by the rights of the nation and not an individual regardless of the status of that particular person. I reaffirm to the great people of Egypt and to the peoples of the world that this resilience is a strong message, and the days of coups have come to an end. This coup has started its demise and will fall God willing with the strength of the people of Egypt and their striving for their rights and freedom. At this time I would like to salute all the martyrs and the injured which the nation has witnessed since the coup. I stand with their families, and children and declare with all honesty that their blood paves the road of honour for this nation. A Revolutionist
