President Obama has begun discussions on one aspect of the Racial Divide. His commission focuses on Police training and relations in minority communities. This is a good first step. Here are two phenomenon of the the Racial tension in the USA: In predominantly white communities, like Merrick, NY where I reside. We greet the police with hand shakes and how are yous. The police is there to help. In predominantly Black/Brown communities like zip code 11212 where I lived in Brooklyn in the 80s, We looked at the police with apprehension and fear. And the police looked at the residents with disdain and suspicion. The police was there to arrest you. Two different communities. Two different view points. Yet I am still me. But felt completely different in one town vs another.
