President Obama – a Democrat or an Autocrat? The MacMillan - TopicsExpress

President Obama – a Democrat or an Autocrat? The MacMillan Dictionary defines “autocratic” as: autocratic - definition 1. ruling with complete power His autocratic government has reduced the nation to poverty and desperation. (This is what it says in the dictionary, not my words, Don) 1. a. telling people what to do without caring what they think an autocratic boss/management style President Obama has shown that he doesn’t care what the “citizens” of the United States think. He doesn’t care what our Representatives to Congress think. He has continuously derided Congress for not passing “his” legislation. He has threatened that if Congress does not pass the legislation he wants, he will sign an edict to change the laws of the United States. He has no authority to override Congress other than to veto legislation they pass within a specified period. He cannot veto laws that have been on the books for many years. It is not the responsibility of the President to make laws, IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PRESIDENT TO ENFORCE THE LAWS. The Constitution of the United States requires the President and his administration to enforce all of our laws. There is no provision in the Constitution that allows the administration to ignore laws it does not like. It is the duty of Congress to create laws based on what is best for the United States and her CITIZENS - their constituents. They are elected to represent the citizens, therefore they need to listen to, and abide by the will of the people. The concept of our Constitution is to separate the powers so that no one person or agency can have autocratic control over our government. It is an ingenious system developed from a group of individuals with very different ideologies. At the time of the Constitutional Convention, many favored putting more power into the hands of the Federal government. Others were strongly opposed to a strong federal government; they wanted states’ rights to be stronger. These groups were no less contentious than our current two political parties are. They fought, they discussed, and they developed a compromise that became our Constitution. It is the job of our leaders to follow that Constitution and to deliberate on the needs of their constituents, then do what is right for the citizens of our country. There is no room in our system for representatives who do not read and fully understand bills prior to voting on them. We the people deserve better than the approach embodied in the statement, “We have to pass this bill in order to find out what is in it.” This Autocratic president said he wanted the ACA bill passed, so his party played every trick they could muster to get it passed. Now when the President cannot get enough votes to pass “his” legislation on amnesty, he ignores Congress and writes an edict that in effect changes the laws passed by Congress. What should the citizens of The United States of America do at this time? Should we stand up to this autocrat, or should we allow him to get away with these illegal actions? It should be kept in mind that the illegality of his actions are not the content of his edict. The illegal actions he has taken have to do with his lack of authority to change or create laws and his refusal to enforce some laws.
