President Sirleaf Departs on State Visit to Republic of Benin; Will Receive Highest Distinction, National Order of Benin Wednesday, 21st August 2013 Monrovia, Liberia - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has departed the country for a two-day State Visit to the Republic of Benin at the invitation of the President of Benin, His Excellency Thomas Yayi Boni. According to an Executive Mansion release, during the visit, President Sirleaf will be awarded the country’s highest distinction, the National Order of Benin, by the Beninese President for her contribution to African development. The Liberian leader will also use the opportunity of the visit to observe the success and potential of the agriculture operations at the famous Songhai Project outside Cotonou. She will also meet with women beneficiaries of a microcredit program. A representative of the Ministry of Gender and Development and the Liberia Marketing Association will join her on the visit. During President Sirleaf’s brief absence from the country, the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Dr. Edward B. McClain, Jr., will serve as Chairman of the Cabinet, in consultation with Vice President Joseph N. Boakai, Sr. 99
