President Uhuru Kenyatta has successfully done in one year what his own father could not manage in 15 years, and what Mwai Kibaki managed to do in five years. Hatred for Kikuyus is at an all-time high in almost the whole country. Even non-Kikuyu Jubilee insiders are just suppressing the feelings because they are in government. I personally have many Kikuyu friends and am also taken aback by the arrogance some have adopted these days. This is a fact we can no longer sweep under the carpet. If the president and his people dont change tact, then I am afraid to say as Kriegler said some time back: 2008 will be a walk in the park. Everyone I talk to has a reason to blame the self proclaimed Kenyan Israelites as Michella Wrong refers to them in her book It is our turn to eat. Someone should tell the president to have an honest chat with his intelligence officers to tell him the exact mood of the people on the ground. Currently, it seems, only central province thinks he is on the right track. But I might be wrong. Have a nice Sunday friends and foes.
