President cuts sod for 50 SHS In fulfillment of NDC 2012 manifesto to construct 200 new community day schools across the country with emphasis on district where there are no such schools, p17 • President John Mahama yesterday began the process leading to the fulfillment of a major electoral promise when he performed the joint sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of the first batch of 50 community day senior high schools at Nyanoa in the Eastern region. • The first sets of schools are expected to be handed over to the government by August 15, 2015. • And pioneer students will have the privilege to start SHS under the free SHS education policy as announced by the government. • The schools will be located in old and new districts with no senior high school. • The design concept is associated with excellence including future expansion. • The contracts for the projects had been awarded to Ghanaian contractors and consultants had been tasked to ensure that local materials are used.
