President of All Goa Scrap Dealers Association Mehmood Khan has said ,their scrapyards are legal with permission from panchayats and should be relocated. He called for stopping of harassment from authorities in a memorandum submitted to Deputy Collector Sabaji Shetye. He also said they recycle dry waste and perform a useful task to society. Khan said that they remove at least 10 ton scrap each and pay taxes, while addressing a press conference. Environmentalist Cloud Alvares supported the scrap dealers saying that they remove scrap and help the community. Scrap dealers organised a rally from taxi stand mapusa to mamlatdars office.
