Presidio School Student of the Month - April 2014 Red Caterpillars nominate Brodie Moreno for student of the month. Brodie is thoughtful and considerate of his classmates. He is kind to others and tries to see the positive side of every situation. He has a smile on his face each morning and keeps that smile throughout the day, even on the tough days! Brodie is a great helper and we love having him in the Caterpillar class! Blue Caterpillars Student of the month is Bayyah Keo – Bayyah is always on time and ready to learn. She does exceptionally well in reading and reads well beyond her grade level. She does well with math, reading, social studies and science. Bayyah is friends with all of her peers. She is very respectful and responsible in class. Great Job, Bayyah! Swallowtails-I am proud to present Rosol Oudah (roe SOLL OH dah) as the Swallowtail Student of the Month. Rosol is always hardworking, cheerful, and she helps others every day. She is a very good reader, and she writes very interesting stories, too. She also loves math and science, especially Real Life Math stories. She has even taught our class to count in Arabic when we have our daily calendar time. Monarch Butterflies-I nominate Ella Anderson for student of the month. Ella works diligently on her assignments. She doesn’t rush through her work, but takes her time and does her best. Her handwriting is beautiful and she is conscientious about writing her letters precisely. She started off the year not quite knowing all of her letter sounds and was considered struggling. Now, her most recent two FFW scores are at the advanced level. She also did excellent on our Stanford testing and scored above grade level on the reading and math sections. I am very proud of how far Ella has come this year academically! She is also a very kind and caring friend to her classmates. Zebra Butterflies-Ariella Monzon-Leon. Ariella works hard every day to complete her work. She is a respectful learner that is quiet when required, and willing to help classmates when needed. The best thing about Ariella is that she is always happy. She always has a smile or her face and she sees the best in every situation or person. She loves sharing stories and experiences with the class. She always follows the six pillars of character counts. It is truly a pleasure to have Ariella in class. Tree Frogs student of the month is Azumi White. She has fantastic citizenship and is a great role model for the class. She is always on task and follows directions. She is a very responsible young lady. She puts her best effort into her work and gets her work turned in on time. The Toucan Student of the Month is Van Anderson. Van is an outstanding and inquisitive student. His handwriting has improved greatly over the course of the year and he now takes time to complete his assignments with attention to detail and neatness in mind. His insightful contributions to class discussions encourage deeper levels of understanding in all subject areas, for both him and his classmates. Keep up the great work, Van! Wildcats Student of the Month is Isabella Moreno. Isabella has improved a lot in many different subjects since the beginning of the year. She is a fantastic reader, and she always will help classmates to determine the meaning of new words. She is kind and caring to her classmates and all teachers. She has certainly been a star this month; way to go, Isabella! The Roadrunners Student of the Month is Anaisabella Noriega. Anaisabella is a great student, always focused on her work and completing it in a very efficient and timely manner. She observes all our classroom rules and is a kind and caring friend to all. We love having her as part of our Roadrunner family. The Ranger of the Month is Isaiah Larned. He is enthusiastic about learning and has recently begun working up to his potential with an improved attitude and work ethic. The Explorer of the Month is Bianca Fowlkes, who strives to think beyond the simple answer, to get the most from her learning. Bianca always steps in to lend a hand and helps keep the class on track. Her enthusiasm encourages classmates to strive towards their best. Dolores Farrar is Broncos’ student of this month. Respectful, eloquent, powerful, and bright, Dory is an artist and a boxer who can write Phrases that pack punches, jokes that ignite Laughter, and after all the funny business is done, She’ll teach you geography, about the East, and the sun. Life isn’t always easy, but like Rose to Jack Dawson, Dory knows how to hang on. “Titanic” is her favorite flick: And though she hasn’t read the book yet, she’s working on it. Bears nominate Zachary Madril for student of the month. Zach is one of my hardest workers, never quitting no matter how challenging the task. Never has he complained or dismissed an assignment. He is attentive and listens to advice to steadily improve himself. With this attitude and character, goals will always be within reach, and he will always find people gravitating toward him to help him achieve any goal. The Chargers nominate Anissa Escobedo for student of the month. Anissa has taken great steps to reach her academic potential, and it has really shown. Anissa has shown great improvement on her exams and true maturity in history class. When faced with the difficult decision to sit near her friends and possibly be distracted, Anissa requested to be moved like a mature young woman. I cannot wait to see her succeed in seventh grade. Congratulations! Colts nominate Julian Bykowski for student of the month. Julian is extremely imaginative and creative. He has the ability to change a piece of string and leftover soda can tab into a time traveling decoder ring. He has improved in math by becoming more focused and has demonstrated a commitment to getting his assignments done accurately and on time. For the moments that he is off task he promptly responds to a reminder and gets focused again. Hes been helpful with fellow students and (have I mentioned) is extremely imaginative and creative. Dolphins-I would like to nominate Allison Townsend as Dolphin Student of the Month. Allison is unique in that she never has ANY negative comments about anyone in or out of school, and NO ONE ever has anything except positive remarks about her. She is one of the kindest members of our Presidio community, and she has worked hard to make sure she stays current with her work. Allison Townsend is truly deserving of the honor of being (Dolphin) Student of the Month! Diamondbacks- Student of the Month is Marley Watson. Marley displays good character, is an excellent student and is a positive addition to the Diamondbacks! Congratulations, Marley! Eagles nominate Jasmine Hamideh for student of the month. Jasmine has a very strong work ethic and pays great attention to detail. She is kind and fun to be around. Falcons My Student of the Month nomination is…………….April Rarick April has overcome math challenges and has found success with the discipline. She cares about her education and knows her perseverance will lead to a bright future. High School Music- My Student of the month for HS music is Jessica Muth. Jessica consistently puts great effort into practicing in class, and it really shows in her improvement on the guitar. High School Visual Arts-Allison Rarick excels in craftsmanship, character and goodwill to others. Allison is a remarkable artist and one of the top ten craft persons I have had the pleasure to work with! Ms. Rarick accepts and exceeds any challenge and puts her artistic skills and extremely high level of technical skill to work every day. High School Freshman: Lilly Crittenden and Mark Macedo (tie) Mark and Lilly are two of our best freshman, making A’s and the occasional B’s in all of their classes. Both are extremely respectful, have wonderful work ethics, and are a pleasure to teach. Sophomore: Timothy Williams Timothy is one of our brightest science students. He always has engaging comments, masters the material at a high level of understanding, and strives to do his best on each test and assignment. Also, he is always quick to make us laugh with his sometimes corny “jokes” about chemistry, biology, and physics. Junior: Mario Vargas Perhaps the nicest student at Presidio, Mark always makes time to greet each of his teachers and tells them to have a good day at the end of each class. His manners are only matched by his academics, where he excels in all of his classes by producing quality work every time. We are so very proud of each of our students of the month!
