The Bronx, NY — Declaring he will bring together people of the district and deliver true positive change to the community, The Bronx native and former President Obama aide Michael Blake on Saturday will announce his candidacy for the 79th District of the New York State Assembly. Like his fellow lifelong The Bronx residents, Michael Blake knows firsthand the hardships of living in one of the most impoverished areas in the United States. He persevered and went on to serve his country as an influential aide to President Obama and Director of African American and Minority Business Outreach in the White House. According to an article by Time Magazine during the 2008 campaign, “at just 25 years old, Michael Blake may have more to do with Barack Obamas chances of becoming President than anyone besides the candidate himself.” After completing his federal service, Michael Blake is proud to be applying that experience to facilitate meaningful business growth in the 79th Assembly District. He remains committed to developing under-resourced communities like the Bronx - now as a Senior Advisor at Operation Hope, a national nonprofit that provides financial literacy empowerment to local youth and families in The Bronx, Harlem and Lower Manhattan, and Director of Public Policy & External Affairs at Green for All, a national organization designed to lift disadvantaged communities out of poverty through a clean energy economy, green jobs, and environmental education. The launch event will take place at a local school dear to Blakes heart, where he has proudly volunteered with young men of color for many years.
