Press Release 06/13/2013 The Park County Sheriff’s Office and Platte Canyon Firefighters are actively fighting a small fire just below the Santa Maria Statute at Camp Santa Maria. Sheriff Wegener, who is on scene estimated the fire to be ½ acre in size at this time. The terrain is very rough in that area and personnel are fighting the fire with hand tools. We believe the fire was started from a lightening strike. Sheriff Wegener ordered a Fire Ban in effect in Park County yesterday at 8:00 am. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
