Press Release Ekiti 2014: The Unity, Sanctity of PDP Comes First – Omoyeni Ado Ekiti: A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a frontline Governorship Aspirant in the Ekiti State Mr. Bisi Omoyeni has reiterated his commitment and support to the unity and sanctity of the party, pledging the willingness and determination of his group to ensure the success of the PDP in the upcoming June 21 Governorship election in Ekiti State. In a communique jointly signed by Barr. Obafemi Adewale, Director General and Mr. Yemi Akinbode, Media Director, BOFER at the end of its extra-ordinary congress and general meeting yesterday, the group stated “We the entire members of BOFER, Bisi Omoyeni Campaign Organisation in all the 16 Local Government Areas of Ekiti State, under the leadership of Mr. Adebisi Omoyeni, met and deliberated on the political situation in the PDP, with particular focus on the purported PDP Party Congress/Gubernatorial primary of March 22 2014. Having observed the controversy and crisis that have trailed the lone governorship primary of the PDP that produced former Governor, Dr. Ayo Fayose and the attendant implications for the sanctity and unity of the Party; appreciating the determination and commitment of our numerous members to ensure the success of the PDP in the coming governorship election in Ekiti State, and conscious of the need to provide direction for all our members concerning the June 21 Governorship election in Ekiti State, the group maintains her dissatisfaction with the flawed processes that culminated in the purported Ekiti State PDP Party Congress/Gubernatorial primary of March 22 2014, the outcome of which has become a subject of serious concern for well-meaning members, elders and leaders of the PDP at the Federal, State and Local Government levels. The communique added “that in spite of all the above and in furtherance of our love and solidarity for the PDP, we hereby reaffirm our loyalty and total commitment to the success of the Party in the upcoming June 21 governorship election in Ekiti State”. It also reiterates its belief in the capability of the Party national leadership led by His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, President in resolving the present logjam arising from the Governorship nomination in the overall interest of the PDP in particular and Ekiti People in general. Omoyeni also appealed to BOFER members to be law-abiding, “We also use this opportunity to appeal to our teeming supporters both at home and in diaspora to exercise patience and be resolute in insisting on what is right, just, equitable and democratic, whilst awaiting the final resolution of the crisis in our Party in the overall interest of all its members”.
