Press Release: Fatal Traffic Crash On Monday December 1, 2014 at approximately 11:45am, GPD Communications received multiple reports of a traffic crash on US 41 just north of Holy Hill Rd. There were a total of four vehicles involved. A flatbed utility style truck was south bound on US 41 and as it approached traffic slowing down the truck took evasive action and went through the median striking a fully loaded semi-tractor trailer. A north bound dump truck drove into the right shoulder to avoid the collision causing damage and a north bound pickup truck drove into the median cables to avoid the collision, the pickup was also damaged. As a result of the crash, there was one fatality that was pronounced at the scene and one seriously injured that was transported via Flight for Life. The two other drivers were not injured. There were no passengers in the four vehicles. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department and State Patrol responded to assist with traffic. Both north and south bound lanes were closed because both were involved in the crash and the State Patrol’s Accident Reconstruction Team needed to gather evidence before it could be reopened. There was approximately 150 gallons of diesel fuel that spilled which required cleanup. As of 4:45pm all of the vehicles have been removed and all lanes will be opened soon. More information regarding the victims will be released tomorrow afternoon after the notification of family has been completed. Chief Peter Hoell
