Press Release July 26, 2014 Dr. Jugindra S. in International task force for voluntary health services across the world. Shija Hospitals & Research Institute, Langol, is once again poised to bring laurels to the state of Manipur in the field of healthcare delivery. Two abstracts were sent for the First International Conference on ‘Humanitarian Medical Missions Volunteers Beyond Borders’, Singapore. Not only were the abstracts accepted but also considering the scale of voluntary medical service rendered by Shija Hospitals, Dr. Jugindra. S, author of the papers, has received a special invitation to become a panel member of the International task force for voluntary health services across the world. The other representatives on this task force panel are NGOs like Interplast, Australia and New Zealand, Operation Smile Singapore, UK and China), Health Frontiers, and Singapore International Foundation. One of the goals of the task force is to come out with guidelines for humanitarian medical missions at the end of the conference. Some of the topics for consideration by this task force will include: (i) Managing requests and responses (ii) Organisation of teams, equipments and supplies (iii) Teams’ protection (iv) Team composition (v) Patient follow-ups (vi) Education, research goals etc. The two papers he submitted were on the topics: Experience as relief volunteer in the Gujarat Earthquake and Voluntary Health Missions in Myanmar by Shija Healthcare and Research Institute. Dr. Jugindra S. is currently working as a Consultant Surgeon and Director of Medical Services, Shija Hospitals and also President, East Zone, AMASI (Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India). He is attending the conference at Singapore from 30th October to 1st November 2014. -Management
