Press Release ~~~ On the morning of Tuesday, November 25th 2014 the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a theft at an Appalachian Wireless Cell Tower on US 460. The tower site had two rolls of fiber optic cable taken from the site. The cable was approximately 300 feet long and weighs between 300 and 400 pounds. The fence at the site was cut and the rolls of wire were removed through the cut portion of the fence. The cable will be easily identified by employees of Appalachian Wireless if the offenders that stole the cable attempt to sell it to a scrap yard. At this time this case is under investigation by Chief Deputy Kevin Pelphrey.
