Press Release Sheriff Sam Craft of the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office announces the December 17, 2014 arrests of Cecilia Daniels Henderson, age 40, of Robeline, and Johnnie Stewart, age 33, of Natchitoches, La. The arrests are the result of a joint investigation between the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office. A report of Forgery was filed with the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office on December 1, 2014. The victim in the case indicated that a check drawn from his bank account had been presented to an area bank and cashed in the amount of $ 500.00 without his knowledge or consent. During the course of the investigation the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office provided information along with photographs to media outlets to include social media. The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office Facebook page received over 29,000 views on the photographs of the suspects in this case. The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office received numerous telephone calls where it was indicated that Cecilia Henderson and Johnnie Stewart were the persons shown in the photographs. After further investigation Detectives contacted Investigators with the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office. Investigators from NPSO also indicated that they believed the persons in the surveillance photographs were in fact Henderson and Stewart. A coordinated effort was made between both law enforcement agencies which led to a search warrant being served by NPSO at the residence of the suspects. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident. The suspects were then transported to the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office from the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center. Upon being interviewed by Detectives, Cecilia Henderson indicated to investigators, that as a hobby she does sort through trash dumpsters where she indicated she found the check she is alleged to have forged. Cecilia Henderson was arrested and booked on one count of Forgery, one count of Identity Theft, and one count of Criminal Conspiracy. Bond was set at $ 13,500.00. Johnnie Stewart was arrested and booked on one count of Principal to Forgery, one count of Principal to Identity Theft, and one count of Criminal Conspiracy. Bond was set at $ 13,500.00. Both suspects remain in the Vernon Parish Jail at the time of this release. Sheriff Craft would like to express his appreciation to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office for assisting in this matter and for the professional courtesy extended to the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office by NPSO. Sheriff Craft would also like to remind residents to shred or otherwise destroy any type of paper documents which may contain personal identifying information to prevent these types of incidents.
