Press Release Tuesday, August 5, 2014 4:00 pm FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact – Chief Deputy Tom Stefanoff Phone – 435-636-3251 Email – [email protected] As of 4:00 pm it is estimated there are over 70 homes in Carbon County that have been affected by the severe thunderstorms that occurred last night. Clean-up efforts have continued throughout the day by local businesses volunteering their services, volunteer forces, private party, and community members, along with local government agencies. The estimated costs of damages are approaching $2 million and further assessments will continue. Citizens are being encouraged to contact us at 435-472-HELP (4357) with any damages that have been sustained. Preparation efforts to minimize continued flooding and public safety are being implemented. Weather updates for Carbon County will be updated and posted to our Facebook and Twitter pages as they are made available. According to the National Weather Service of Salt Lake City there is a thunderstorm warning in effect until 8:00 pm this evening with the possibility of continued flash flooding in the Helper and Spring Glen area. Potential for flooding will exist for the same drainage areas that were affected yesterday.
