Press Statement In a hurriedly convened press conference, Pushvinder Singh Manhas reacted sharply to the drama being enacted by MLA Akhnoor and sitting Cabinet Minister in Omar Govt for last six years, Sham Lal Sharma who was earlier incharge Health Department and was now heading the PHE Department for last more than a year. Pushvinder, Sr. State Vice President, Young Panthers and contesting candidate of Panthers Party from Akhnoor pooh-poohed the claims of Sham Lal wherein he had asserted that he resigned as Cabinet Minister on the issue of injustice being meted out to Jammu Province by NC headed by Omar Abdullah. However Sham Lal has failed to explain as to why he had submitted his resignation to the Pradesh Congress Chief, Saif-ud-din Soz and not to the Chief Minister or for that matter to the Governor of the state. It may be recalled that only day before yesterday Sham Lal, who flew back from Valley had managed to get received by couple of supporters at Jammu airport who gave him a rousing reception outside Jammu Airport as if some ‘star’ was returning home after winning a tournament. Interestingly a crash press conference was also organized at press club Jammu wherein the Minister amongst other things produced certain documents of Cabinet Sub Committee regarding the regularization of Daily wagers, wherein Sham Lal claimed that the Finance Minister, Abdul Rahim Rather had played dirty and wanted only daily wagers from Kashmir regularized leaving daily wagers from Jammu high and dry. Shamelessly, the issue on which PHE Minister claimed to have resigned, the documents produced by him at the press conference spoke otherwise, wherein time and again the Cabinet Sub Committee have pointed out to the fact that officials from certain departments were not sending the requisite information on the prescribed format, it was in-fact the PHE department headed by Sham Lal Sharma which had maximum number of daily wagers to the tune of 23711 and had not complied with the request of above referred directions. Pushvinder alleged that rattled Sham Lal was in-fact using Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), an employees’ union of Congress which had a strong hold in PHE to further his political interest by exploiting the daily wagers who were fighting for years for their just rights to get permanent employment in the state Govt. Pushvinder Singh Manhas lambasted at the shoddy politics being played by Congress MLA from Akhnoor where on one side he is trying to exploit the sentiments of Jammuites by provoking slogan of Hindu Chief Minister from Jammu, at the same time exploiting the poor employees by not actually doing anything for their welfare when he was in power and now shedding crocodile tears. Pushvinder dared Congress MLA that if he was serious about his assertion of Jammu region getting a raw deal on behest of Kashmiri rulers, “let you resign from Congress and become a voice of Jammu and join the Panthers fight for Jammu State”, “I will not contest against you”. Pushvinder further said that when time and again Sham Lal was asserting the fact that Jammu was being discriminated then it was high time that he simply hit the roads of Jammu telling people how time and again he felt suffocated being in the coalition Govt and not able to do anything for his people who he so darely loved and cared for. Questioning the genuineness of Sham Lal’s tall claims regarding various issues Pushvinder said that if Harsh Dev Singh could regularize more than 32000 teacher appointed under Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), which had not been so far happened in any state of India yet then what stopped Sham Lal from meeting aspirations of thousands of employees of Jammu region for getting regularized wherein the Cabinet Sub Committee accuses officials of PHE department of insubordination (Hathi Ke Daant, Khane ke aur, or Dikhane ke aur). Pushvinder further challenged Sham Lal to come clear on these allegations or desist from contesting elections on false propaganda for people have read into his game plan and ensure his defeat in the forthcoming assembly elections.
