Press Statement from KRU Chairman Mwangi Muthee welcoming Paul Treu --------------- With the anticipated arrival in Nairobi on Monday (November 4, 2013) of Paul Treu, I would like to assure him of a warm welcome from the Kenya Rugby Union, the rugby fraternity and the people of Kenya in general. Let us accord the new Kenya Sevens Head Coach and Performance Director Kenyan hospitality. Then, above all, give him and his management team the space to settle down to business; respecting their privacy when they need it. The KRU will, at the convenience of Paul Treu, formally introduce him and his team to the Kenyan people in due course. We sincerely appreciate his agreeing to take up the mantle of heading our national team from where Mike Friday and Chris Brown left us. In the recent history of our national Sevens team, we came to know the bitter taste of failure and then, during Mike’s and Chris’s time, the sweet taste of success. It is going to be a challenge for Paul Treu to maintain the pleasant current feeling. There will be a lot of hard and smart work needed from Paul Treu and his coaching panel, the squad he will select, the Union, our sponsors and everyone else, in order for success to be part of our lives. In that breath I would like to sincerely thank our sponsors, Kenya Airways and CEO Dr Titus Naikuni, especially, for making the acquiring of Paul Treu’s services a reality. Karibu Kenya, Paul Treu. Mwangi Muthee (Chairman,Kenya Rugby Union)
