Press Statement from the Executive Secretary On transferring the venue of APEC-ISOM from Legazpi, Albay to Manila After consultation with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2015 National Organizing Committee, Albay Governor Joey Salceda, and other stakeholders, the Informal Senior Officials Meeting (ISOM) from December 8 to 9, 2014, will be held in Manila instead of Legazpi, Albay, due to the expected arrival of Typhoon Ruby (international name: Hagupit). Legazpi is likewise slated to host other APEC-related meetings during the hosting year. While this is highly unfortunate, we have deemed it best to err on the side of prudence and ensure the safety of the delegates. Likewise, it will afford the local government to focus on the necessary actions to be taken in light of the coming typhoon. The ISOM will proceed as scheduled at alternative venues. I wish to assure everyone that contingencies are in place. The government is ensuring that the rest of the activities push through, and is making preparations for the coming typhoon. We thank Governor Salceda and the people of Albay for their cooperation and understanding. We are united in ensuring the safety and comfort of all delegates; we are likewise conscious of our abiding obligation to ensure that all steps are taken to prepare for the typhoon.
