Press release - Felon in Possession of a Firearm Arrest, 2145 Harbor Blvd. (Motel 6), January 15, 2015, 12:30 a.m. On the above date and time VPD received a call of a suspicious subject in the rear parking lot of Motel 6 on Harbor Blvd. Officers responded and contacted the suspect, Herrod, in the rear parking area, and upon searching his belongings they located an unloaded handgun. Further investigation revealed that Herrod had previously been convicted of multiple felonies making it illegal for him to possess a firearm. It was also determined that Herrod was not a registered guest at the motel. Herrod was subsequently booked at the Ventura County Jail for Felon in Possession of a Firearm. No one was injured as a result of this incident.
