Press release 25 08 2014 PCC PREZ REQUESTED THE PRIME MINISTER FOR GIVING PREFERENCE TO OUR LOCAL CANDIDATES IN THE VACANCIES OF AN ADMINISTRATION BY UPSC. .............................................................................................................. Writing a letter to Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister with copies to the Lt Governor, ANI and Chairman UPSC the PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma has advocated for the local youths for allowing fare opportunity by the screening committee of UPSC while short listing the name of the candidates for selection to a particular post. Kuldeep has submitted that very often the candidates from Andaman & Nicobar Islands are not sponsored by the UPSC for vacancies of gazette postsarising in the Departments of Andaman & Nicobar Administration even though the applicants/candidates being fully qualified and experienced in terms of the eligibility criteria prescribed in the Recruitment Rules of the said posts when the candidates from other parts of India who are sponsored by the UPSC in no way possess higher qualification and experience than the left out applicants /candidates belonging to A&N Islands. While citing reference to the recent advisement made by UPSC vide Advt. No.07/2014 for filling up of 13 posts of Assistant Professors in Dr BR Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Pahargaon, Port Blair, Andamans, Kuldeep said that many local candidates possessing requisite qualification and experience has come up with grievance of not having been issued the call letter for appearing in the selection for the posts. He has further referred instances when the aggrieved local candidates from A&N Islands have to approach court of law for getting their names sponsored by the screening committee of UPSC and with the intervention of the Court could succeed in getting their names sponsored through UPSC. Ultimately, when selection to the posts took place these candidates got selected by the selection committee of UPSC various department of A&N Administration like BRAIT , DSS etc. He has also stated that the students from these far flung Islands in pursuit for having a better carrier prospect go to mainland of India to acquire higher professional education by incurring huge expenditure on education, boarding, lodging and travel etc. and when they are not even considered for appearing for selection to the posts under the A&N Administration being fully qualified and more experienced than the other shortlisted candidates they feel embarrassed and dejected. With no private employment being available in the Islands and government being majorsource for providing employment opportunity Kuldeep has requested has thus that candidates from these Islands are given fare opportunity and preference by the screening committee of UPSC while short listing the name of the candidates for selection to a particular post.
