Press release 30 8 2014 PCC chief demanded second main OT in GBP Hospital ............................................................................................... Many relatives and attendants of indoor patients of GBP Hospital have,narrating their difficulties, requested the PCC President to place before the appropriate authority for opening of second operation theater in the hospital. Accordingly Kuldeep Rai Sharma, PCC chief, appreciating precious changes brought by the Administrator in various fields including in health sector for the welfare of the islanders and development of isles, has shot a letter of request to this effect to the Lt Governor. In his letter Kuldeep has requested him to consider second main OT at GBP Hospital where at present only one main OT exists beside a side OT for eye and ENT. Kuldeep has stated that GBPH being a referral hospital, serious patients from inter islands also come here to get treatment beside patients of Port Blair and so over rush of patients are there throughout the year and patients need to be operated have to wait for many days for the availability of OT. While on one side these waiting patients have to bear acute pain and tension when on the other side their attendants, especially coming from out of side of Port Blair, have to bear financial burden on lodging and boarding apart mental tension for their patients. Accordingly, Kuldeep has requested for another main OT with a separate OT for obstetrics and gynecology (pregnancy and child birth related department) which will be a boon for the islanders. He has also requested for separate septic and clean labour rooms and hoped to get suitable consideration from the Administrator for the welfare of the islanders.
