Press release RCMP officer named UN Police Commissioner of Haiti stabilization mission Ottawa, December 18 – The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is pleased to confirm that Chief Superintendent (C/Supt.) Serge Therriault has been chosen as Police Commissioner for the United Nations (UN) Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH). UN Secretary General Bang Ki Moon made the official announcement on December 17, 2014. In his new role, which will see him promoted to Assistant Commissioner, C/Supt. Therriault, a 30-year member of the RCMP, will be responsible for overseeing 2,449 UN police officers from 48 countries. He has been acting police Commissioner since August. He previously served as MINUSTAHs Deputy Commissioner of Development starting in November 2012, leading the implementation of the 2012-2016 Haitian National Police Development Plan.
