Pressing up into Pinchamayurasana was the first real lift up that started to happen for me. Try it both with straight legs and bent knees because for anyone with a little extra flexibility the straight legs press will be easier. Going up with bent knees requires more core strength and prevents you from relying on a deep pivot through the hips and shoulders to lean forward. Keep the shoulder girdle stable and strong, press down through the elbows and squeeze everything into the central axis of the body and you will start to lift up.
