Prestons Preview and Review: Higher Order Thinking: Kentucky might start or quickly substitute in a smaller guard during this game to handle the defense in the front court. You will see more dunks and lobs from Kentucky than normal, and all the big men will have a big game. Young will be strong and match up well with his quickness and be critical on Defense and slashing Into lane on offense. The geometry of the over pursuit will favor his left hand. UCONN will have some openings for three on the corners, because Kentucky is focused on middle penetration and quickness. If UConn is on, they could be close at half time and get turnovers. Statistically, both teams are off in shooting in big games and the safest shot is a put back dunk- an area where Kentucky is perhaps the best team in college history. Guys- these freshmen are getting older and have beaten the best teams in tournament and best coaches and they are not getting worse each game; hence, logic tells you they keep getting better as they play together more. They have a wonderful coach and the most depth, and foul trouble will get UCONN in the end. UCONN could win having an almost flawless shooting night and shabazz taking over and getting separation, but mathematics says that Kentucky should win on put back points on offensive rebounds and depth and limiting opponent to one shot. You will see a massive size difference when they take the court and length at guard. Shabazz will be able to take hard jab steps and fade away top of the key shots on jumpers on the taller defenders . Eventually, he will miss and nobody there to get rebound over four quarters. Kentucky will eventually have to put a shorter quicker guy on him and use guys we dont see a lot to bring the ball up. Very impressed with UCONN, and they can beat everyone except Kentucky and Wisconsin. Big boy from Kentucky will come out and get the ball higher on the key than normal and young will slash to open space. Big Randle will show you very much agility drippling as a big man tonight. UCONN will get turnovers, but the team we think will be great on defense will actually get their shots blocked often and tip balls by Kentucky down the stretch in passing lanes and find it hard to get off a shot.
