Presumption is extremely - TopicsExpress

Presumption is extremely dangerous............................... Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation (2 Cor. 6:2). There are many people who are well aware that they cannot appear before God in their present condition. But they find it disturbing to be reminded of it time and time again. They dont want to be pressed; they think they have enough time to deal with the matter. That was the case with a young farmer. During the hours he spent ploughing his fields this thought always came back to him. He knew the way of salvation; he also knew that we should take the question of confessing our sins before God and believing in the Lord Jesus seriously. But he was also aware that that mean the start of a new life, for whoever receives the Lord as Saviour lives for Him. And that farmer wasnt ready to take that step. One day he again felt very uneasy about the question of his eternal salvation. When he could endure it no longer, he knelt down behind a hedge at the side of the field and prayed; Lord, I want to be saved, but not yet. That made him feel easier and he went on with his work. The struggle within him had stopped. Would you like to know that farmers last words? Just before he died, he said, Too late now! That prayer did it. I sent God away. That man was afraid of the consequences salvation would have for this life; he overlooked the consequences for eternity. The right time to turn to God is now, not tomorrow. Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth - Proverbs 27:1 (TGS).
