Pretty deceptive article alert. The energy giants are, once again, looking for a post-oil money stream and giving a really deceptive hard-sell on it. The build times on Nuke plants are actually extremely long, and every effort to speed past them has already resulted in building these plants in really inapropriate and dangerous spots.. Like Fukushima. Based on a VERY solid track record on this, the construction of new nuke plants will not only be VERY carbon and tax costly, but also slow and dangerously located. We have a wide variety of safe, clean energies, Wind, Micro Hydro, Tidal, Geothermal, Solar and more coming. All of these can be produced cleanly, close to the localities where they are needed, and with less waste in transmission. What Nuke does for us is to provide us with environmental disasters, long-distance energy delivery losses with related security problems and dangerous storage issues that are left to the people to cope with, generally without the least interest from the corporations to pay their own bills and clean up their own messes, much the same as every other dirty source. Also like fossil fuel, Nuke delivers to corporations is a concentrated money stream with loads of oportunities to extort our politicians into giving them special wavers to pollute and endanger our future and our children. The choice is pretty clear, we can have energy security with clean, sustainable energies or we can continue to be utterly dependant on criminal enterprises that use our money, the money we pay them, to litterally frack us over
