Pretty good day with a few very nice priced winners, here are the winners and placing reviews, full day reviews can be found at footynags CAULFIELD Mujadale (1st, $10.45 BEST TOTE PLUS) Very tough victory by this boy today. As expected he sat much closer today up outside the leader, the runs started to come at the 800m and on the turn they looked to have beaten him off. He kept kicking hard along the rail though to drive back up and hit the front over the last 100m and in the end drew away to a good win. He is a one paced type of horse who trues very hard, no reason he wont be competitive in these sort of staying races over the spring. Specter (2nd, $1.50) Sat just off the speed in a nice spot off the rail, looked to travel well to the turn but got badly held up when looking to get into the clear casuing him to lose all momentum, picked up again well to run 2nd. Should have finished much closer to the winner. Backbone (1st, $14.13 BEST TOTE PLUS) Given a lovely run just off the speed, he peeled out wide coming to the turn and was able to sustain that run for a long time to be too strong for the runner up over the concluding stages. Keeps his superb 2nd up record going and his run 1st up was not too bad in a hot form race. Pretty handy staying type. Guelph (1st, $1.45 TOP FLUC) This start filly won very well again today. Went straight to the front and dictated the race, kicked on the turn and was able to hold them all off very easily. The runner up Mays Dream ran super as well, look for her to head towards the Oaks now and be very hard to beat. BEST QUINELLA - Guelph/Mays Dream ($3.60) They looked the obvious 2 in the Thousand Guineas and they beat the rest pretty easily. Both fillies are very, very good. QUADDIE - $402.90. Paid pretty well considering the last 3 faves saluted. Obviously Backbone was the value in the first leg for us. MURRAY BRIDGE Pelicano (1st, $7.51 BEST TOTE PLUS) He had the big weight and wide gate but i cant believe he went around this price, he was always going to be too classy for this group of horses. He got a cracking ride settling out back but hooked on to the back of one to drag him into the race at the 700m, he quickly headed them on straightening and was far too strong over late stages.
