Pretty rewarding couple of days of activism this weekend: fundraiser for the Unistoten blockade (good article on that here: vice/en_ca/read/the-view-from-unistoten-a-camp-that-stands-firmly-in-the-path-of-enbridges-northern-gateway-pipeline ) on Friday night then up to Burnaby Mountain for the Kinder Morgan blockade on Saturday. Got to meet some cool people opposed to both pipeline projects, gave a brief interview to a UBC student reporter and even got to help sand a log in preparation for it to be transformed into a totem pole by a First Nations artist at the Burnaby blockade. Dont know whats going to go down there tomorrow afternoon when the injunction takes effect but its a hopeful sign that so many people, both native and non-native, clearly arent going to accept these kinds of destructive projects being rammed through just because wealthy corporations and their allies in government want them. The peoples voice still matters.
