Pretty timely article (for me). Was at the park with my pooches over the weekend and there was a couple walking their dogs with retractable leashes behind us. Both dropped the leashes when their dogs tugged. Their dogs ran after my dogs with their leashes skidding across the sidewalk behind them. The sound of the skidding frightened their dogs which made them run even faster to try to get away. My dogs tried to bolt as well. All ended well - thank goodness!
