Price-hike in Bangladesh Price-hike is the most talked about issue of the present time. The price-hike of the necessary commodities is getting sky high and out of the reach of the poor and the lower middle class people of our country. Various factors are responsible for the price-hike in our country. With the growth of population there remains always a shortage of the production of the commodities like rice, fish, meat, milk, oils, spices, vegetables, etc. This deficit in the production of daily essentials causes price-hike. Some dishonest businessmen are also responsible for it. They hoard essential products in their godowns with an ill motive to become rich overnight. As a result there is a breakdown in the supply. These dishonest businessmen have spread their network all over the country. They have formed an evil syndicate that fabricates schemes to raise the price of commodities. Smuggling and black marketing are also important factors that also cause price-hike. The govt. is not strict to bring these dishonest businessmen into book. Sometimes the international economy exercises an influence on the price-hike. The govt. policy for controlling price is not effective. There is also no proper mechanism to fix price for a product. There also prevails lack of proper monitoring system. The poor and lower middle class people suffer intolerably for price-hike. They can not afford to manage two square meals a day. They suffer unbearably due to malnutrition and other diseases. Many even die as they do not get medical facilities. In such situation no nation can prosper if its citizens do not get proper food and medical facilities. The govt. should take proper initiatives to control price-hike to mitigate the sufferings of common people. Strict laws regarding food price should be implemented and proper monitoring should be contacted. Above all, we should raise our voice against the unreachable price-hike of the daily essentials.
