Price of the potato has increased exorbitantly due to mismatch between demand and supply. It is pertinent to mention in this regard ,the government has appointed MI( Marketing inspector) in all the districts. The role of the MI is to regulate the supply and demand of all essential commodities which are effecting the people. They are accountable to the Dist collector of the concerned dists to correct/ maintain/ stable the flow of the commodities. It is very strange to note that these officers has totally kept mute/ silenced by the traders so they can sell the same at higher price in connivance with them.Now the government has become serious to get the potato from west Bengal, only assurance given that the supply will ease the crisis. It is yet to be seen in the light of the days......... Had this step would have been taken earlier 7 days back by the government skyrocketing price of the onion would have been checked.Severe action should be taken against the MI for dereliction of duty
