Prime Minister Narendra Modis endorsement of Muslim community and their patriotism in a recent interview with CCN IBN is a reply to the RSS lobby in his party. The statement also unravels that the so called Hindutuva cultural national project is not just unattainable, but a failure. Its good that major BJP leaders including the Prime Minister of the country are attempting to invalidate many of RSSs ideas and programmes. We see prime Ministers recent comment on Muslim community as a reflection of the recent developments in the relationship between BJP and RSS where for the BJP, the nation comes first rather the Hindutva ideology. In that sense Modis comment doesnt come in vacuum. But its a continuation of what the Home Minister Rajnath Singh has commented on the so called “Love Jihad” a week ago. Rajnath Singh has said he does not know whats “love jihad” while many of his counter parts in the RSS and the VHP were campaigning against Muslim community in his home state, Uttar Pradesh in the name of “love jihad”.
