Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visits flood affectees in Jhang on Saturday, October 11, 2014. It was his second visit to the area since the floods hit the country. The Prime Minister distributed cheques among the victims as compensation. He announced up-gradation of Khewa school to a college. He also took part in reconstruction work. Addressing the flood affectees at Jandyana area in Jhang district, the Prime Minister said all available resources have been made available for the relief activities. Damage assessment has been carried out and every flood affected family will be fully compensated for the loss of lives, damage to houses, crops and cattle heads without discrimination. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the first instalment of 25 thousand rupees was paid to the flood affected families before Eid-ul Azha while the process of payment of second instalment of 25 thousand rupees will start from October 20. The Prime Minister assured that steps would be taken to avert flood damages in future, including checking the erosion by rivers of populated areas. He also appreciated the efforts put in by the armed forces, rescue officials and district administration for the relief of flood hit people saying it is unprecedented that the flood hit people had been provided with relief on fast track basis.
