Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, will address the nation on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 8:00pm. Over the last few weeks, the Government has engaged public sector unions and other private sector and civil society groups on the state of Saint Lucias economy. During these consultations, Government’s expenditure was detailed and officials from the Ministry of Finance also presented a case for adjustments to contain and reduce public expenditure. On Tuesday night, Prime Minister Anthony will, once again, address Saint Lucias economic position and share Governments proposals to the public sector unions and associations. The proposals were presented to the Public Sector Unions last Friday, June 06, 2014. According to Dr. Anthony, “This matter cannot be left solely to the Government and Public Sector Unions and Associations. It has to include the public at large because all citizens have been called upon to make a sacrifice of some kind or other.” Prime Minister Anthony says he is hopeful that consensus can be reached on the way forward. The address to the nation will be aired on all major radio and television stations at 8:00pm on Tuesday, June 10, 2014.
